Who Invented the First Artificial Heart?

The concept of the artificial heart dates back to the 50s when Dr. Paul Winchell first patented one, however it was not really made. Afterward, artificial hearts were used only as a temporary measure. Later Robert Jarvik would introduce the first permanent artificial heart.
