How Accurate are Pregnancy Test?

Pregnancy tests are very accurate. Most claim over 99% accuracy by the first day of a missed period. Because they test the existence of human chorionic gonadotropin, they are unlikely to register a false positive (some fertility treatments can interfere, however) and are sensitive enough to register small amounts of the hormone, so they are also unlikely to register a false negative.
