How do Chickens Make Eggs?

Glad you asked...
Similar to other oviparous life forms, chickens ovulate on nearly a daily basis. Ovulation is the process by which a female releases an ovum (egg) from the ovaries. There is little embryonic development in the female inside the mother. The ovum develops a hard shell consisting of protective layers to protect the undeveloped embryo and to pass it through the oviduct after fertilization by the male gamete. Once the egg is passed by the female fowl further embryonic development occurs outside of the body through the process of incubation during the brooding period.
